She became very famous in her last lonely years and when she finally died on the 1st September, 1914 she was probably the only instance in which even the exact time is know as to the moment of extinction for a particular species............
.........It took only 50 years for man to exterminate the Passenger Pigeon......
On the Passenger Pigeon Audubon wrote: "When an individual is seen gliding through the woods and close to the observer, it passes like a thought, and on trying to see it again, the eye searches in vain; the bird is gone."
