The lion's original range extended from the Cape Of God Hope to the Mediterranean and eastward through Palestine, parts of the Arab Peninsula, Asia Minor, Mesopotamia and Ian to northern India.
This great beast with its vast original range was man's greatest Competitor for prey. In respect, throughout history man has used the lion's image as a symbol of great strength and power. The lion was the king of beasts and so his image become elevated to the realm of human royalty.

However, the lion has and will always be the greatest wildlife threat to man; this regal beast is our most feared predator. Man has therefore, with all possible means at his disposal, persecuted the lion for centuries.
